thursday, a photoshoot

woke early with seth, and took him out to look a the cows. he was very nervous about them, and wanted to look at anything else aside from the dozen big bovines peering at him from the fence.

the people all woke up, and after a big omelette and coffee, we started pulling power cables and sun-umbrellas up the hill behind the barn. i was put in charge of setting up andrew's "civil-war-re-enactment-grade canvas wall tent", and soon realized we'd need metal spikes to hold it down in the strong breeze blowing across the hilltop.

the cameras were set, and seth was un-collared to be a model dog in this photo shoot fro andrew's new album. by five in the evening, as the light really got good, some neighbors arrived with two horses (one of whom would be in the shoot. seth got super excited to see them, and we had to excuse ourselves to walk the edge of the field until he grew bored of these new arrivals, which i can only assume he interpreted as some sort of super-dogs. eventually, he was calm enough that we worked our way back to the shoot, and seth was placed at andrew's side, again, without a collar, standing about 15 feet from a horse with no bridle.

di worked on her drawings down at the house, and everyone came down to shower and eat. i cooked hot dogs. the rest of the gang packed up to drive to des moines so they could be ready for a 9am soundcheck opening for the flaming lips at a festival. we drove home.

monday through wednesday at TBM

i stayed home to draw on monday and tuesday, though i didn't really get enough done. some patagonia shirt work, and a couple variations on the pitchfork music festival shirts. tried to catch up on emails, and did some work in the yard.

wednesday, i went to TBM to scan and color the final OMF shirt. also sent off the new year shirt i had made a while back. around 5, i went home and picked up di and seth, and we headed out northwest towards andrew's barn, where we arrived around 9pm. cameron, the photographer from minneapolis, arrived soon after us, and we all ate dinner of steaks and various awesome vegetables.

cameron, andrew, seth and i walked out into the corn field to watch the fireflies, and cameron shot a bunch of long exposures of the barn and the fireflies.

back at the barn, di and seth ad i took the guest room, while cameron slept on the couch.

louisville to chicago

woke happily on the floor of jason noble's air conditioned office. got the other dudes up, and went for coffee with jason and kristen. got a gigantic swiss mocha, iced. we hopped onto 64, changed to 65 north, and hit it. great drive, clear roads right up to gary, where we had to detour onto 80/94, got off a kline ave, took it o the skyway, and headed to the practice space. dropped the gear, dropped off stephanie, hen kip, and jason and i went to his house. emptied the van, put the seats back in, and i drove arthur and clive to the rental place (as they have never been in a van before. jason and hil tagged along in their car. returned the van, climbed into the mazda, and they drove me home, where i got to see di and seth.

i think i went right to sleep.
