thursday, a photoshoot

woke early with seth, and took him out to look a the cows. he was very nervous about them, and wanted to look at anything else aside from the dozen big bovines peering at him from the fence.

the people all woke up, and after a big omelette and coffee, we started pulling power cables and sun-umbrellas up the hill behind the barn. i was put in charge of setting up andrew's "civil-war-re-enactment-grade canvas wall tent", and soon realized we'd need metal spikes to hold it down in the strong breeze blowing across the hilltop.

the cameras were set, and seth was un-collared to be a model dog in this photo shoot fro andrew's new album. by five in the evening, as the light really got good, some neighbors arrived with two horses (one of whom would be in the shoot. seth got super excited to see them, and we had to excuse ourselves to walk the edge of the field until he grew bored of these new arrivals, which i can only assume he interpreted as some sort of super-dogs. eventually, he was calm enough that we worked our way back to the shoot, and seth was placed at andrew's side, again, without a collar, standing about 15 feet from a horse with no bridle.

di worked on her drawings down at the house, and everyone came down to shower and eat. i cooked hot dogs. the rest of the gang packed up to drive to des moines so they could be ready for a 9am soundcheck opening for the flaming lips at a festival. we drove home.
