woke around 7, showered, took off around 8 to swing by metropolis to pick up sara. we drove south to mat's studio to pick up the 1200 pieces of two-up metropolis prints. we started boxing them, i carried them downstairs while sara finished boxing the remnants. from there we went to rohner letterpress to get them cut. got to see lindy, and met erik, the cutter guy. erik cut them pretty much while we were standing there, which was awesome. boxed them up again, and went to metropolis, where we loaded them (again) into the back room. five feet of countertop. we curated the prints, pulling out the bad ones, counting, stacking. by 3pm we were done. gave tony their copies, boxed ours to take back to the shop. got to explain a ton about the shop to sara. she walked home (basically across the street) and i took off for home.
di wasn't home, so i washed some dishes, made dinner (three-day-old mushroom soup, bread with goat cheese and tomato), started a fire, played the stereo.
di came home, we both sit at the table working now.

wednesday
woke and headed to the shop. sara was outside waiting when i arrived, and jason n brought his painter, matt (aka 'raditude')by soon after. matt painted a bunch of the front office and the hallway, sara worked on cleaning the floor in the middle office, and later on priming and painting the darkroom. i skim coated the ceiling of the spray-out booth, and finished hanging the durock.
mat took off, i dropped sara at the train, and i drove south towards jason's. stopped at the food whole for a sandwich, then picked up jason. drove to practice, played, first with stephanie singing, then ran through the rest of the songs.
dropped jason off, picked up my scarf (finally), which i had left in his car after sledding on jan 1, then i went to the food whole to get soy milk, creamer, and bread.
drove to my folks' to pick up a check for mat from the temporary office there.
home, in to bed.

tuesday?
what did i do tuesday? i think i was at home working on the patagonia drawings.
tried to get the final film made for the metropolis prints, but ran out of time. went out to the evanston bicycle club meeting at 7:30pm, then back home to finish the drawing. headed to kinko's to make films, stopped by TBM for ink, then headed to mat's studio to strip the films together. finished around 1am.

monday, to champaign and back
woke at 6, out the door with di at 6:30, onto the highway and into traffic.
stopped in matteson (home of "fuck you, matteson.") for coffee / breakfast / gas, then kept heading south. arrived in champaign at 9:30.
spent the day hanging the 'animals & objects...' show. saw walter, met many interested university employees. a shot interview for a newspaper, a short photo shoot, and a video shoot of me hanging work.
very nice, way too brief lunch wiith jenny and bob. we had made plans to go out, but i was worried about time. jenny stayed for the afternoon to help hanging.
finished up pretty much right at 5pm.
stopped at lincoln bindery in urbana for a very nice visit, then onto the highway. picked up seth at 8:30 from my folks, too him home. di and i watched the rest of 'paris, je t'aime', then slept.

went to the gym with di, got chai.
unsure on the middle of the day right now. will edit when i recall... some drawing...
started watching 'paris, je t'aime' with di, but had to leave for practice.
practiced, brought home my upright bass.
brought the bass indoors, took seth out and drove him to my folks' house, to leave him for 24 hours.
home, sleep.

saturday
since the weather was reasonable, we walked seth up to central street first thing, and got chai.
came home and made a fire, worked on the tiny showcase image a bit. hung some more stuff in the recently-painted en and dining room.
around 1, i went over to TBM and shuffled around, surveying the remaining work, of which there is annoyingly little. i hope to finish these handful of illustrations asap, to turn my full attention to the shop.
at 2pm, sara showed up to see the shop. on renate's advice, i contacted sara, a recent art institute grad, to interview her to work for me as printer and general around-the-shop help. she didn't seem the least bit fazed by the current mess of the shop, she was upbeat without being annoying, and i am optimistic about being able to work well with her. she lives right near metropolis coffee, so she took the train, and a bus to get to the shop, which wasn't too bad. we left the shop, and stopped by kaufmann's for sandwiches, noted where the yellow line el stops, for a different commuting option for her, and then drove downtown.
stopped briefly by mat's studio to drop off the two pallet knives i got for him, then went to ispace to take the show down.
mary and kari were both there. we four had a good visit, then kari, sara and i took the show down quickly. packed it up, and i drove sara home. we stopped at metropolis to see if tony was there (he wasn't), and i picked up something for di and myself, said bye to sara, and drove home.
i stopped at 'our old' video adventure rental place we used to use, to pick up some movies, and had to pay $5 in late fees from 2003 (for kate & leopold, hmmmm).
at home, di had made another batch of soup based on christy's amazing mushroom soup recipe (from new years eve). i ate, then we watched 'sunshine', which in some ways was really great, and in some ways was really disappointing. i think generally i'd give it the thumbs down, despite my love of apocolyptic sci-fi like this.
into bed, not too tired, then realized it was only 10pm, so we read for a while. i started in on 'the road' by cormac macarthy. already i'm hooked.
