i went to the gym with diana. stopped at the pet store afterwards, got akiko and seth their foods. i went home while di went to visit the girls at lorna's. i stayed at the kitchen table drawing a piece for tinyshowcase. really happy with how it came together, nothing like i had intended.
around 3pm, amidst a flurry of calls and emails from people asking how late ispace would be open, i decided to run down to the gallery. stopped at pearl to buy some pallet knives for mixing ink, got a chai, and hung out at the gallery. justin froqueens and his wife and john hastie came by, we had a good visit. oscar came in, shot some photos. john 'colonel panic' and eliza from EA forums came by, as well a a bunch of folks i didn't know. cut out of the gallery at 7, dropped john and eliza near their home, and went to jason's and hilary's to see the twins. we played, did some wrestling, and i got to listen to them read a bok before grumpily going to bed. jason and hil and i watched 'superbad', which was awesome.
home, into bed.

thursday, oh no
i can't recall thursday, aside from going to nick's birthday drinking at the hungry brain.
oh, wait... diana and i ran to my folk's house to pick up something, then went down to mat's studio, where he was printing the second color on the metropolis posters.
from there, diana and i went over to a park near the south loop, where about a dozen ling-eared owls have decided to winter in some evergreens. they were beautiful, and looked like a group of cats sitting happily asleep, 15 feet up. when we were there, there were six on one tree, and one in an adjacent tree.
diana and i went home. later, we met up with bob f. to sign off on our refinance of our mortgage. THEN we went to the hungry brain to meet up with all the people for nick's birthday. good fun.
drove home after i was tired, slept well.

okay, wednesday
woke around 6, eventually got out of bed and went to the gym for the first time in weeks. i had cereal before i left, but i made it out the door. at the gym i didn't push it too hard at all, but spent some time on the bike, some time stretching, did some gut reduction exercises on the machines. a dip in the hot tub, the steam room, the dry sauna, the shower, i felt like a hundred and twelve bucks.
home again. played with seth, answered emails, chatted with geoff, ibarra, and jason (at the same time). i think i found a new employee, and also a company to re-start doing my website. everyone else is fired.
left sometime late morning, went to TBM to pick up paper, then down to mat's press. i loaded the paper in (up four flights of stairs) and worked on setting up the press with mat.
after we started printing, tony from metropolis coffee came by to see the first color(s). he brought lunch, which was heroic.
we didn't finish in time for me to get to jason's house to load dianogah gear at 6:30, so kip and jason loaded out of his basement alone, and i helped load into our practice space (up those four flights of stairs) when they arrived.
practice was fun, we ran through a bunch of songs for the first time since making our record. talked about our may UK trip.
cut out around 9pm, headed home, stopped for gas, let seth out in the yard, and caught up on the emails and internets.
ok.

tuesday
di got up and went to the gym. i took seth for a walk, answered emails, and took off for kinko's (to make films) and on to TBM. took some trash out, brought the plants in (from their vacation outdoors in this week's balmy weather), painted a couple missed spots on the floor, loaded paper into the car, and drove to crafty beaver, where i got an access panel to install in the spray-out room wall, a couple of ceiling vent grilles for the bathrooms, and one of those moping bucket-on-wheels things with the mop squeezinizer.
from crafty beaver, i drove to screwball press, where i visited steve for a little bit, and picked up the remains of the ink i had there.
down western to lake street, across to crosshair, i loaded the ink and paper up the stairs to mat's space.
up the highway to the tile outlet on fullerton, where i got tile for the spray-out booth. loaded the poor civic, and got back on the highway where i watched the odometer pass 100,000 miles. great little car.
dropped the tile at TBM, shuffled around a bit, trying to decide what to do next with the building.
took off for home, where di had made potato leek soup. one of my favorite things, one of her specialties. i sat in front of the fire, and fell asleep on the floor for an hour.
got up, made some calls, got some calls, played internets, did more email. now thinking about a new tiny showcase print.
ok.

monday
what did i do monday? woke up feeling like crap, so i climbed in the tub, may have fallen asleep. di made me tea.
spent a good amount of time answering emails, them spent the rest of the time at the kitchen table, cutting films for the metropolis poster.
went out with diana to drop stuff at fedex, then registered to vote at our new address, and stopped by turin to return the ortlieb handlebar bag i got last week. i didn't like how high it sits on the handlebars. john at turin fixed the dish on my recently rebuilt rear wheel while we were in the shop, which is amazingly fast.
meagan from across the street stopped by for a brief visit, which was nice, and should happen more. we scheduled time to go to ispace on friday evening to see my show.
tried to rally to go see tieth and head of skulls down at the bottle, but couldn't get going.
vague memories of the evening. slept.

sunday, with friends
woke around 6, got up slowly. not quite as crappy as yesterday, but still definitely sick. i walked seth, ate some french toast di made me. she also made tea for my thermos, i made some more for my mug for the car. loaded the car with painting supplies and took off. i got to skokie paint co at 8:50, and doug, the owner, waved me in even though they didn't open until 9. we hung out while he mixed paint for me. he's a funny guy.
got my six gallons of paint and headed to the shop. i sanded as much mud as i could, cleaned up what i could, and dan grzeca and ella showed up at 11. they started painting. renate arrived soon after them, followed in a little while by xan, and later by john hastie and john kenzie arriving at the same time. di brought substantial snacks from whole foods, and we got a lot done over the course of the day. i tried to just stay one step ahead of everyone else as best i could, to keep everyone busy and as interested as possible.
i think john hastie and xan, and maybe dan ibarra, may be the only people reading this blog. hi guys.
today really accentuated for me how people are willing to help when i need them. this is really a great feeling. we got so much done.
everyone took off around 6pm or so, and after they left, i managed to get a second coat of paint on almost everything which had ben painted. starting to have second thoughts about the lighter green on the big main wall in my office. that color may change.
around 10 i went home. saw a skunk in the neighbor's yard.
di was waiting for me with toast and tea. we talked a while, then i bathed.
typing this now, then off to bed in 5, 4, 3, 2...
