a week later...

i spent the weekend painting the stairs, put down carpet squares on the risers for poor old seth, who's having trouble on the oak, and then on sunday morning, diana and i drove to washington DC. we stayed with our friends dan and rose, in hyattsville, MD, and hung with their two dogs (cricket and sadie) and their two cats (boris and marco).

monday we went to breakfast and i got waffles, and later we headed into DC proper to meet up with andrew and grab some dinner before going to the big shoulders ball that night at the black cat. the streets were crowded, the show was great, i got tired, and we left before eleventh dream day, which bummed me out. driving back to MD took forever, even at midnight.

tuesday jan 20th, we woke later than planned, and saw the news reporting that 'they' had shut off access to the mall. we wavered for a bit, and ultimately stayed in front of the TV at dan and rose's place to watch the inauguration.

as the ceremony ended, we saw the million (millions?) of people walking off the mall, and decided it as time to get on the highway before they all did.

eleven hours later we were at home.

wednesday and thursday, i worked at home, went to the gym (including swimming), got briefly sick on wednesday night (caffeine withdrawl), and saw a screening of the xan-produced film "milking the rhino" at the block gallery at northwestern. the film improved substantially from the last time i saw it, about a year ago, though some minor edits.

sara and jack spent tuesday through thursday packing up the second shipment of the 2008 subscriptions. i started drawing some shirts i'm doing for an online music retailer.

friday i went to the gym again, then met up with di at the shop, where she spent the day printing noble beast tour posters with sara. i worked on the shirt designs more. nathan came by to pick up what might be the last batch of prints and drawings to shoot for the new book. sara will be helping him at the MCA this weekend with that shoot. i bought plane tickets for sxsw.
