elephants

how can you see a video like this one, and not re-think our relationship with animals?

monday through thursday at TBM

monday i worked alone at the shop. stayed up late working on a drawing for the short film brigade's new poster for this season.

tuesday i worked from about 7:30 am to 11 pm. cut films for the brigade print. printed the last color on the penguins, then editioned the 350 prints. sara and i shot photos of the blue planet series (thus far) and of 20 monoprints. i started posting them to etsy, and sold eight prints (at $100/ea) between tuesday night and thursday morning.

wednesday, sara and i printed the last three colors on the 'deep' poster for the blue planet series. this was the end of a huge project, and all i had left to do was sign, number, sort and ship them. and i gotta get paid. i went back home around noon to meet with chuck to talk about the new electrical work beginning at the house.

thursday morning, di and i decided that today's onslaught would be best approached after a walk to central street for chai. we got home, and i began moving the furniture out of our bedroom and the yoga room upstairs. by 10am, i had both those rooms empty, and enough out of the way in the office to allow chuck access to the first walls he'd be opening. i went to work.

today we had sara, and sue came in, and patrick had his first day. he's being hired on a one-month plan. i don't know how i'm going to make it through this month, so an extra set of hands seemed like a good idea. he spent the day loading images onto the new site, and rotated i as take-off for the printing for an hour here and there. overall, it went really well.

i changed plans a couple times today on the brigade prints. i depended on the white underprint for the bull to stand out from the background, and was sort of let down when the second color, a thin but dark slate blue didn't pop the bull shape enough. transparent white, very transparent blue, then citric yellow for the banner (worked great with the transparency) then the same yellow 'greened up' a bit for the overprint of the st. bernard and the cat. the plan wa to go with the key plate next, but i now think that the bull needs another color. thin red purple? the key plate will have to be light. tomorrow we'll know.

now di is downtown with the girls for becca's party for her new job. seth and i are at home listening to neko case, and i'm about to start in on drawing the '2001: a space odyssey' poster.

wayne next door started emptying his flat files this week, and bringing them over to me. i'm going to sort out some for sara, jason, and maybe sue d. and andrea t., then post the rest to gigposters.com.

sunday

i do not recall sunday. it is now thursday.
