back on track; thursday

woke at 5:30, waited for the alarm to go off at 6. got up and headed to pick up my dad to take him to the airport. he's having a small adventure, heading to newark, finding a train into NJ, and buying a car, which he will drive home tomorrow.

as he hasn't flown in years, i told him about all the new TSA restrictions and protocol. dropped him off and headed back to TBM. picked up chai on the way.

morning was spent tying up loose ends. ten boxes of the "100 posters / 134 squirrels" books arrived. trying to figure which 'next' project is the most pressing.

my list:

"ice cream man" posters
two wine labels for CA winery
the f-holes poster
secret poster commission for a friend
may 25 champaign reunion show
burton snowboard
the recyclery poster
wolf park poster
new year (band) shirt
jody goodall illustration
'dogs in school' art print commission
dianogah LP cover sleeve design & printing
dianogah june tour posters
flatstock chicago poster
mudhoney poster
modest mouse poster
swell season x3 poster
poison arrows poster
3 or 4 art prints.

... at the moment, that's all i can think of.

monday through wednesday at TBM

monday morning, becka from quatre tete came to pick up the covers, and we agreed that they looked a bit shit. the new bird machine site went live, and we got a ton of orders. i posted a long thread on gigposters about the new shop and site, and new prints. in the afternoon, i went to nathan's to drop off prints to be photographed. at 10pm, i went back to nathan's to pick up the prints and files.

tuesday morning i went to kinkos to make new films, to start over on the quatre tete records. patrick and i printed all day, and we finished at 8pm. all morning i was obsessed by the image of my face being smashed in a car crash. the quatre tete covers worked a lot better this time. i feel i will be happy about them. the first versions would have never made me feel good. at home, we watched 'there will be blood', though di fell asleep half way through.

wednesday, i took seth to the shop, editioned the remaining 2001 prints, burned a CDR of the newly shot prints (for yann and the biennial). seth stayed at the shop, i went out to lake forest high school to talk to two classes. went very well. i ate a sweet potato burrito for lunch. back to the shop, i got seth, and we headed downtown to yann's office. yann came down and brought seth and i up to see the new office. we met lance and the editor of step magazine.

north again, we stopped to pick up dog food, seth and i went home, and we went out for a long walk with diana. at home we sat in the dark yard, talking. paul stopped in to pick up some tools. i typed this up, feeling very distracted.

friday, saturday, sunday

friday, i dunno. sara and simon were at the shop early with their moving van to take the flatfiles she bought from wayne. sue came in, and patrick worked. what did we do? i don't know. we recycled some stuff. patrick helped me run the first color on the quatre tete covers.

saturday was cold and rainy. in the morning i something something. around 1pm, i picked up andrew to help me find a semi-formal jacket, a sport coat, what do you call it? a blazer? what's the difference? this is why i asked andrew for his help. we went up and down milwaukee ave to a variety of shops. i sold some 7"s to reckless, some books to myopic. we did not find a jacket, despite andrew's good guidance. i am too big for good taste. we had some lunch at milk & honey.

sunday, i don't know. i went to the shop and was frustrated by the quatre tete covers, but printed the remaining two colors. had to burn the key plate twice. di came over to help me print.
