we woke to the results of the overnight snowstorm, about a foot on the ground. i met sara at the skokie swift terminal, got chai, and met sue at TBM. got sue and sara started on making this year's 'mistakes' books, and headed to pick up an aerobed from the store, then met up with my dad while he was out running errands, to borrow their aerobed. saw a bus bottomed out on the metra train crossing at lake street in wilmette. picked up coffee for di.
home again, i spent the day working on the house with di. i went out to the food whole at on point, but otherwise, we just sorted, cleaned, and straightened.
around 8pm, dan ibarra, letta and josh arrived from minneapolis. kelly (dan's wife) couldn't make it, as she is quite sick, which was really disappointing. letta showed diana her new tattoo, of di's drawing of a wren. we ate thai food and hung out with seth in front of the fire.
into bed around 11pm.
ok.

thursday
i woke and stayed home. sara went to the shop to work, and called periodically to confirm what she should be working on. i typed up the letter describing each of the prints included in the subscription mailing, and prepared the TBM.com update to send to jason, for making into the internets.
lots of emails.
a whole day at home. we finished painting the living room and moved furniture in, and hung pictures on the wall.
ok.

wednesday
hmmm, writing this on friday, trying to remember two days ago.
seth was at TBM with sara and i. he doesn't really like it there, yet. too many scary things stacked up.
ah, now i remember: we spent the morning preparing the 2007 subscriptions to be shipped out. we packed the 50 copies of 28 different prints into sleeves, and loaded them into my car to take to my folk's house, which has more usable tabletop space than the shop does right now.
the breakdown is like this: each subscriber gets three tubes, one containing ten prints, two containing 9 prints. the three tubes are packed into a 10 x 10 x 36 inch box. 50 subscribers. that's a lot of packing. my dad, sara and i got about 2/3 of the job done by the time i put seth and sara back into the car, dropped sara at the noyes st. EL stop, and went home.
i think we watched some of the 'blue planet' DVD.

tuesday
walked seth, made tea, ate cereal, and loaded tools into the car, including my compressor (WTF, heavy) and nail gun and drill and stuff.
arrived at TBM at 8:30. sara arrived soon after. i put up some trim in the front office, made some decisions on remaining trim, sara cleaned a bit and sanded mud on the ceiling of the spray-out room. i bought an egg salad sandwich from 7-11. we decided to plow into the spray-out booth tiling again, and spent the afternoon doing that. got most of it done by 5:30, as the temperature dropped 15 degrees in like 30 minutes, and the rain came on.
drove sara to the train, and i went home. started to get into the shower, but ended up winding tangled yarn onto a spool for diana. sat in the tub, but before it filled much, i decided to go start painting. quick shower, then went to paint the living room, which di had worked on today. worked until 11, very happy with the dark clay grey color.
blog, email, okay, sleeping, bye.

monday, at TBM
woke, made tea, di made me sandwiches, and i went to TBM. worked on drywalling the last bits of open wall, then went to the hardware store to get a wax ring for the toilet, and some trim for the new drywall corners which will soon be bashed.
di came by TBM to bring me chai, and told me to just jump into tiling the spray-out booth, which is the only major project left on the building. i jumped in, mixing mortar by hand, learning to tile by the seat of my pants.
by 6 or so i had two walls mostly done.
took off for home, bathed, and headed out with di to xan's birthday dinner at friendship cafe in logan square. it was xan, dia dn me, and xan's brothers jacob, julian, and mario, and jacob's wife anya. dinner was great, i learned that xan has a severe shrimp allergy, so i got mango shrimp, like an asshole.
after dinner we stopped at home depot for a curtain rod for the rug we're hanging in the den. at home, we realized we had bought the wrong size, but i put up the brackets anyway. i installed the mantle around the wood stove after di went to bed.
then i went to bed. woke up in the night yelling as i had bitten my tongue in my sleep.

sunday
woke at 7:30, climbed into the bath, as i was sore. fell asleep in the bath. woke in time to get properly showered, dressed, and down to metropolis coffee for a 9:30 meeting with kenny, (a new client), and his wife and 15-month-old daughter, who were funny and lovely.meeting went well, we're going to do some good stuff.
home, lay around with di for a bit, then we decided to go to the field museum to see the 'maps' exhibit which is closing after today. called john and christy to see if they wanted to go. picked them up, went to the museum. show was great, and packed. got a bunch of ideas for images. saw anders nilsson, but i don't think he recognized me with my beard.
dropped j & c off at their house after taking a convoluted route back, then went to the food whole to get groceries. back home.
home for 30 minutes, then my folks came by to pick us up, so we could take them out to dinner for their 39th anniversary. trattoria DOC, food was great.
home now, falling asleep due to only 3 hours last night.
ok.

saturday
let seth into the yard, then put him in the car with di and i and drove to central street to get chai, and to let him pee up there a bit. drove briefly over by the lake, then home again.
i spent some time preparing pictures of the new posters for the TBM site. diana and i worked on her clarinet part for 'wrapping the lamb', and got where she was really comfortable with it.
drove down to the practice space, arrived at 3:30. we ran through some songs, then hilary, stephanie and anya arrived and we ran through 'wrapping the lamb' a bunch of times. sounded good. we packed up and loaded out down the stairs.
load in, soundcheck with hil, anya, stephanie and diana. sounded out of tune, so we put extra time into tuning before our set.
ate dinner at bite, the service sucked, the food was okay (for me, though everyone else's was bad). 300+ came to the show. quatre tete did well, bear claw pounded, and we played pretty much the best set we've done in a couple years, i think.
the girls played on the first song. sounded perfect from where i was. finished the first art of the song, where there's a rest, and the crowd went nuts, clapping for the clarinets and saxophone. finished the song an landed it perfectly.
the rest of the night was fun & easy.
we loaded out of the club and into jason's house, and i got home just a few minutes before 4am.
